Keeping in tune with it, DMA-1 celebrated
World Book Day on 23rd April, 2022 in the special morning assembly to ignite
children’s imaginations and help students to understand books are important for
the mind, heart and soul.The blissful morning commenced with the chanting of
shlokas and prayer to the almighty. The students hosted the program cheerfully
and threw light on the significance of the world book day. They presented their
views on books as loyal ideal companions, book reviews personating characters
from the book, a group song on love for reading, a foot tapping dance to liven
up the atmosphere and a skit based on RK Narayan’s Malgudi Days.
A DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Activity
was also organised to celebrate the World Book Day. All the students as well as
the staff members were motivated to engage in reading of content of their
choice in order to inculcate the habit of reading.
The day also witnessed an Inter House Best
out of Waste Competition for the students of classes 7&8. The competition
focused on preserving the environment by reusing and recycling waste material.
Students used their imagination and creativity to make innovative things. They
used broken bangles, old clothes, egg shells, old newspapers, wedding cards,
colourful beads etc. in constructive manner and made variety of beautiful
things.
In her address, the Honourable Principal Dr
(Mrs) Ritu Dewan motivated the students to become avid readers and to
constantly endeavour to enhance their vocabulary. She also stressed students to
explore more informative literature in the library that is efficiently loaded
with the various genre of books and enhance the language skills. She urged each
students to mandatory read five books in a year for their self-growth. She also
made the students aware about the social service club initiated by the
different schools across the city which is further going to set up 63 libraries
in nearby village to provide the facilities of books to the deprived and underprivileged
people. Madam appealed students to donate the books for the noble cause. She
appreciated the efforts of Nehru House in putting up the special assembly to
observe the world book day.
